Media Matters: Missoula radio personality switches to new station
By MICK HOLIEN of the Missoulian

One of the Missoula radio market's best-known personalities, Glenn Schmidt, has moved from Fisher Radio across town to Clear Channel, where he works on sales, production and promotions.

Schmidt started on the air in Missoula in 1976 on KGMY, which in 1977 became KGRZ. In 1982 he became the morning talent on XT-93, at the time Missoula's top rock station, and 10 years later moved over as a salesman to Z-100; both of those stations now are owned by Fisher Radio.

He plans within the next two years to return to the airwaves with "a show rooted in goofiness, opinion, audience participation with lots of comedy and community involvement," he said.

The new guy who took the place of Wade Muehlhof on KECI's evening news with Heidi Meili is Chris Boehm, who brings close to eight years of award-winning experience to the news desk.

He spent the last three years anchoring in Bakersfield, Calif., after working as an anchor in South Bend and Evansville, Ind., and Corpus Christi,

Texas.

Boehm graduated with honors from Southwest Texas State but spent the majority of his collegiate days at Texas A&M.

A lifelong Denver Broncos fan who started his broadcast career in sports, he is married to Kristine and has two children, daughter Regan and son Garrett. Another child is due soon.

As for Muehlhof, he's currently out of the broadcast business and has moved to New Mexico.

One of the "old-timers" in Montana television news, Steve Fetveit, recently became the local sales manager for KECI in Missoula, KCFW in Kalispell and KTVM in Butte and Bozeman.

Fetveit has been the station manager, and news director-news anchor at KCFW for the past 18 years.

Former KECI sports director Todd Reed just couldn't stay off the air - but this time he's doing radio. Reed and Missoulian sports reporter Jon Kasper debuted a sports talk show this week on KGRZ. The one-hour show can be heard from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays on 1450 AM.

Mick Holien is the Missoulian's business reporter; he writes the "Media Matters" column occasionally for the Missoulian. He also an employee of Clear Channel Radio in Missoula and provides play-by-play announcing for University of Montana football and men's basketball games.
