“This is very positive news and will allow us to move forward,” UM athletic director Jim O’Day said Friday. “It should end any speculation or distraction and will give us more time to address areas within the proposed three-year agreement that might be of concern to Bobby or the University.”
Previously one-year contracts were the only option for a head coach in football or men’s and women’s basketball at the University of Montana. Last fall the Montana Board of Regents approved a resolution allowing UM and Montana State to offer three-year deals to the head coaches in its three major revenue-generating sports.
In 2004 Hauck led the Grizzlies to the I-AA title game against James Madison. Last fall Hauck
guided UM to the semifinal round of the playoffs as the Grizzlies posted a 12-2 record.
