The SKC men started off wtih an 89-65 win over Fort Berthold College of New Town, N.D., behind 19 points each from Ed Running Rabbit and Delbert Trombley, and another 16 from Howard Walker.
The men then edged Northwest Indian College of Bellingham, Wash., 62-61, behind Walker’s 3-pointer with 9.7 seconds left. NIC had a last second shot fall short.
The SKC women picked up one win when the Blackfeet Community College women couldn’t make it out of Gillette ahead of a winter storm. They also downed Fort Berthold 84-25, jumping to an early 15-0 lead.
Bobbi Woodworth led four SKC players in double figures with 20 points. Rikki Ollinger added 19, Racquel Little Plume chipped in 14 and Kodi Kuka had 10 for the winners. SKC will play the host team, Oglala Lakota College, on Friday.
