You may recall the story about the college - almost on a lark - sending out letters to 105 professional football, baseball and hockey teams last year, asking them to donate items for SKC's annual scholarship auction and dinner.
The response was underwhelming. Ninety-eight of the teams either ignored the letter or responded with rejections.
The Colts, of course, went on to win Super Bowl XLI, making the ball significantly more valuable.
The only thing missing, SKC Foundation director Lois Slater noted at the time, was the John Hancock of head coach Tony Dungy.
Someone - they have no idea who - clipped out the Missoulian article about the autographed football and sent it to the Colts. On Thursday, the SKC Foundation received another football for the auction, this one signed by Dungy himself.
Associate director Selina Kenmille said the ball was accompanied by a letter from Colts community relations assistant Stephanie Mathes, who said the Colts hoped the ball with the missing signature would help SKC raise more funds for its general scholarship fund available to all students.
The two footballs will be auctioned, along with many other items, at the college's scholarship auction and dinner on Saturday, May 19 at the Kwa Taq Nuk Resort in Polson.
