BOZEMAN - The deputy supervisor of the Gallatin National Forest will leave Montana to supervise the Deschutes National Forest headquartered in Bend, Ore., the Forest Service said Monday.

John Allen, 50, is scheduled to begin his new duties in August.

Allen joined the Gallatin forest in 2004 as deputy supervisor. His 28-year Forest Service career began with seasonal employment. He then became a forestry technician for the Fremont National Forest in Oregon.

Other assignments included work as a silviculturist for the Umpqua National Forest, and as a ranger for the Willamette National Forest. Both forests are in Oregon.
