Premier Paints has opened its new paint and supply store at 1700 Brooks St. The store is open 6 a.m.-2 p.m. during remodeling, or call 360-3632 for an appointment. Premier Paints is now the authorized dealer for Farrow and Ball traditional wallpaper and paints and is the local distributor for California Paint and Devine Paints.
Farmers State Bank has hired Shane Puyear as branch manager for its Missoula branch, scheduled to open in the spring of 2008. Puyear comes with six years of experience specializing in opening new retail bank locations. He is a graduate of the University of Montana-Western. Prior to the Missoula branch opening he will work at Farmers State Bank locations in Victor and Lolo.

Kendra Logan has relocated from Cedar Creek Salon & Day Spa to the Do Crew Salon. Logan specializes in color, cutting and more.
Appointed
Julie Cowan, an editor for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, was appointed the Toastmasters 2007-08 Area 12 governor on July 1. Cowan is responsible for training and mentoring club officers from all four Missoula Toastmasters clubs. She is a founding member and past president of the Shootin’ the Bull Toastmasters Club.
Robin Cahoon, human resource representative at Missoula Federal Credit Union, was appointed chairwoman of the Focus on the Future Committee for the Missoula Job Service Employers’ Council. This committee provides career information and awards scholarships to local students in our community. Cahoon has more than 30 years of experience in the banking industry.
The Rev. Paul Armstrong has been appointed Montana state chaplain by the Chapel of Four Chaplains. In this leadership role, his primary responsibility will be to pass on the spiritual example demonstrated by the group’s founders more than 64 years ago. Armstrong, who recently returned to Missoula, serves as Veterans Ministries?chaplain and is a 1983 recipient of the Chapel of Four Chaplains’ Legion of Honor.

The Montana Bankers Association elected the following officers from western Montana: Joe Kesler, president and CEO of First National Bank of Montana in Libby, was elected to the board of directors. Kesler will serve two years as a policymaker representing the Western Region. Robert Whalen, president and CEO of Citizens State Bank in Hamilton, was re-elected to a third term representing the Western Region.
Recognition
Linda Bursell, Montana coordinator for TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), was recognized as one of the top 20 coordinators at TOPS’ International Recognition Days in Providence, R.I., recently. The top 20 coordinators are recognized for increasing membership in their state. Bursell was the 10th-place coordinator.
The Montana Pharmacy Association presented the following awards during its spring convention recently: Lisa Wrobel received the Young Pharmacist of the Year Award. Wrobel is the clinical skills laboratory coordinator at the University of Montana. A 2003 UM pharmacy graduate, she has served primarily in a teaching capacity at both UM and the College of Technology. Another UM School of Pharmacy faculty member, Vince Colucci, was the recipient of the Past Presidents Award. At the association’s TriState Pharmacy Convention in June, Jim Seifert of Troy was elected board president. He also was presented the Pharmacy Leadership Award from the National Community Pharmacists Association and the Leadership Award from McKesson Pharmaceutical. Seifert owned and operated Kootenai Drug in Troy for 29 years until selling the business last year.
Author and speaker Angela Breidenbach won first place in the Touched By Love Inspirational Writing Contest last recently at the Romance Writers of America Conference in Dallas. Her book, “What She Didn’t Know,” is about a Swedish-American flight attendant who must save her mom from the streets of Denver. It is due to be completed by the end of September.
Certification
David Irwin, principal member of Scientia LLC, has received certification for training in the use of Near Infrared Spectroscopy at Analytical Spectral Devices Inc. in Boulder, Colo. The training and acquisition of the equipment will allow Scientia to identify and quantify almost any organic substance. Applications include analyses of biodiesel, nutraceuticals, food and forage.
