New business

Mike and Julie Beckel have opened Old Timer Tack & Saddle, a custom saddle and saddle repair business. Mike Beckel received his saddle-making training from instructor and author Dusty Johnson of Pleasant Valley Saddle Shop in Loveland, Colo. Call 239-1514 or 728-2262 or at beckels3@msn.com.

New associates

Nick Taber has joined Northern Rockies Financial Group as a financial representative for the Guardian Life Co. Taber has been licensed with LEAP financial systems, and his practice focuses on estate planning and tax strategy.

Wendy Plute has joined AAA Montana as an insurance agent in the Missoula office. Plute is a licensed property and casualty insurance agent and has a background in insurance sales and customer service.

Matt Pickett has joined Pyron Technologies as an account manager on its information technology sales team. Pickett comes to Pyron Technologies after several sales and customer service training positions, including self-employment as a computer consultant and trainer, and as the marketing director for a five-state region with K-Designers. He has a bachelor's degree in communication studies-organizational communication from the University of Montana and is part of the University's Executive MBA program.

Danny Smitherman has joined Pyron Technologies after 10 years in the computer and software industry, having begun his career in software support. Smitherman's experience includes software testing, data services, network administration and hardware maintenance, and he has specialized in database application development and systems integration for the last seven years. He has two years of private consulting experience and has completed training in Windows Server 2003 Infrastructure.

Kay Green has joined Montana Business Capital as its vice president and chief operations officer. Her banking experience includes being a vice president/cashier, operations officer, compliance officer and training officer for a community bank in Colorado and similar experiences at a de novo community bank in Tucson, Ariz. She holds bachelor's degrees in mathematics and physics. She has completed courses from the American Institute of Banking, the Center for Financial Training for Compliance and Payments Resource One.

Partnership

First National Wealth Management Group, a subsidiary of First National Bank of Montana, has been formed in partnership with LPL Financial Services. First National Wealth Management Group will offer First National Bank of Montana clients access to a variety of financial planning solutions. Rick Wilson, the wealth management division officer at First National Wealth Management Group, is a licensed LPL consultant with more than 15 years of experience in the financial services business.

Conversion

Slender Lady of Missoula, owned by Chris Landkammer, has converted to a Healthy Inspirations franchise. Healthy Inspirations is a women's weight loss program that combines individual nutritional plans, coaching, exercise, relaxation treatments and beauty treatments.

Relocation

Kendra Logan has relocated to the Do Crew Salon. Logan specializes in color, cutting and more. Call 251-2739.

Dianne Williams has moved to Total Look Salon. Williams has 20 years of experience in pivot point cutting, hair coloring and perms. She is a graduate of Charles of Italy Hair Academy.

Elected

Jim Beyer was elected to the board of directors of the

National Organization of Parents of Blind Children at its annual convention in Atlanta recently. Beyer is currently the chairman of Help Other Parents Excel, a statewide organization of parents and caregivers of children who are blind or who have low-vision. HOPE in is an affiliate of the

Montana Association for the Blind.

The Missoula Convention & Visitors Bureau has elected the following officers: Mary Muse, Adams Center, president; Dan Carlino, DoubleTree Hotel, vice president; Erika McGowan, Windfall Technologies, treasurer; and Barb Kennedy, Missoula Job Service, secretary. Newly elected board members include Tom Benson, Missoula Cultural Council; Matt Ellis, Missoula Osprey; Linda McCarthy, Missoula Downtown Association; Anne Guest, Missoula Parking Commission; Kienan Slate, 10,000 Waves; Lucy Weeder, Best Western Grant Creek Inn; Mary Erickson, Broadway Inn and Conference Center.

Recognition

Properties 2000 announced its top producers for the month of July. Deana Ross was the top agent for residential sales. Scott Hollenbeck was the top listing agent for residential sales and specializes in residential and new construction sales. Kris Hollenbeck-Hawkins was the top listing agent for new construction sales and specializes in residential and first time homebuyers.

The following had bulls listed in the fall 2007 “Sire Evaluation Report” published by the American Angus Association in St. Joseph, Mo.: Jeff and Shoni Wilson, Potomac (one bull); Karl and Donna Tyler, Missoula (eight bulls); Paws Up Angus Ranch, Greenough (one bull); Mulledore Beef Program, Missoula (two bulls).

A group of 37 Curtain Up! Performers won four platinum gold and five high gold awards in competitions at the national Access Broadway competition and dance classes held recently at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

The following were top producers for Lambros Real Estate for July: Jack Wade, residential; Ed Coffman and Karen Reyner, commercial; Laurie Page, Seeley Lake; Irene Marchello, Polson; and Gary Locke, Hamilton.
