Minnesota midfielder Kelsey Hood scored the first goal in the 51st minute. Hood, who scored on her only shot of the match, had her shot deflect off Montana sophomore goalkeeper Grace Harris' hands and into the net.
Minnesota closed out the match with a goal in the 86th minute. Grimwood added an assist to her stat line as her pass was redirected into the possession of reserve forward Katie Shelander, who scored her first goal of the season.
Sixteen of Minnesota's shots were on goal, compared to four shots on goal for Montana.
Minnesota goalkeeper Chelsey Turner had four saves in 90 minutes of work to record her second shutout.
Montana senior forward Laura Nogueira had a team-best four shots, two on goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper Grace Harris had 12 saves.
Montana returns to action when it hosts the Montana Nike Cup at South Campus Stadium in Missoula. The Griz will face Detroit on Friday at 5 p.m. and Boise State on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
