Missoula County officials believe they have found the body of a Milltown man who was reported missing in July.

Officials don’t suspect foul play and said the death appears to have been a suicide, said Lt. Rich Maricelli of the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office.

Chad A. Painter, 27, was last seen on July 25 at his apartment building along Highway 200. After packing up his belongings, the man left letters and phone messages for family members and authorities indicating he was going to kill himself.

A hunter found the body on Saturday in the Twin Creeks area east of Bonner. Authorities then transported the body to the medical examiner’s office to compare dental records.
