Missoulian names opinion editor
By the Missoulian

Tyler Christensen is the Missoulian's new opinion page editor.

A business reporter for the newspaper since 2005, Christensen is a graduate of the University of Montana School of Journalism.

She succeeds Steve Woodruff, who left the Missoulian earlier this year to help direct Western Progress, a progressive think tank.

Christensen, 28, was instrumental in the development and success of Western Montana InBusiness, the Missoulian's monthly business magazine, and in coordinating the newspaper's day-to-day coverage of business, industry and economics.

She begins work as opinion editor on Monday.

“Tyler is going to be a terrific leader for our opinion page,” editor Sherry Devlin said in announcing Christensen's promotion. “She is an excellent reporter and writer, and will bring a fair and steady hand to our opinion section.

“She shares our goal of opening the pages of the Missoulian to a lively and wide-ranging community discussion of the challenges of our time. Readers are going to enjoy working with Tyler, and participating in that discussion.”

Christensen will also work to expand the Missoulian opinion page's presence online, via the newspaper's Web site, Missoulian.com.

Along with members of the newspaper's editorial board - publisher John VanStrydonck, controller Stacey Mueller and Devlin - she will help formulate the Missoulian's editorial opinions.

Christensen can be reached at (406) 523-5215 or toll-free at 800-366-7186 or by e-mail at tyler.christensen@lee.net.

Christensen and her husband, Charles, have a daughter who will turn 3 on Tuesday.
