UM's Martin named Big Sky POW

University of Montana guard Matt Martin has been selected the Big Sky Conference men's basketball player of the week for games played between Nov. 20 and Nov. 25.

Martin, a 6-foot senior from Spearfish, S.D., averaged 13.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, two assists and 1.3 steals per game as Montana went 2-1 at the Cougar Hispanic College Fund Challenge in Spokane.

Martin scored nine points with two rebounds, and assist and a steal in Montana's 66-55 loss to No. 9 Washington State on Friday.

In a 69-57 victory over Air Force on Saturday, Martin scored 15 points with four assists and three rebounds. He was 7-of-9 from the free-throw line.

Martin netted 16 points with three steals, two rebounds and an assist in Montana's 69-62 victory over Mississippi Valley State on Sunday.

Martin shot .545 from the field and .438 percent from 3-point range in the three games.
