Hardy verbally commits to Griz football
By the Missoulian

Fairview standout Greg Hardy has given a verbal commitment to play football at the University of Montana, the Billings Gazette reported Friday.

The 6-foot-5, 240-pound Hardy was a Class C all-state selection as a junior and senior and a four-time Eastern C all-conference selection for the Warriors. He's played tight end, linebacker and this year, quarterback at Fairview.

Hardy helped the Warriors make the 2006 State C basketball tournament, and last spring he swept the shot put and discus titles at the 2007 State C track and field championships.

That meet marked his first trip to Missoula; he returned this summer for a Grizzly football camp, and was recruited from there. He chose UM over Montana State and the University of North Dakota.

“It felt like the right place,” Hardy, who lives on a farm right on the North Dakota border, told the Missoulian. “Kind of a hard place not to fall in love with, I thought.”

Hardy, who said he accepted a full scholarship, figures to play either tight end or defensive end for the Griz.
