In documents filed with the secretary of state’s office Thursday, Laslovich listed his parents’ home in Anaconda as his address.
Laslovich, 27, said Friday he has used that address for his entire career in the Legislature, including his first two terms in the state House, when he was a student at the University of Montana in Missoula.
Laslovich won his Senate seat in 2004, when he ran unopposed in Senate District 43. The district includes Anaconda, Deer Lodge, Deer Lodge County and Granite County. So far, he has no opponent for re-election in 2008.
Laslovich graduated from UM law school in 2006 and was hired as an assistant attorney general for the state Justice Department last summer. He works in Helena as an attorney in the department’s Office of Consumer Protection.
Laslovich said he and his wife, Jill, bought a house in Helena, because they both have jobs here. Jill Laslovich is an attorney at the law firm Crowley, Haughey, Hanson, Toole & Dietrich.
Laslovich said his job at the attorney general’s office is temporary, because he was appointed by Attorney General Mike McGrath, a fellow Democrat. It will expire when McGrath leaves office this year. McGrath, who cannot run for re-election because of term limits, is running for chief justice of the Montana Supreme Court.
Laslovich, currently chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said his experience in the Legislature will enable him to represent his district well.
