BILLINGS - A 24-year-old woman accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend pleaded not guilty Thursday to deliberate homicide.

Emily James, of Billings, made her plea by video from the Yellowstone County jail.

She is accused of stabbing 30-year-old Seth Drinkwalter in the chest Friday. Drinkwalter was found in a bedroom and was pronounced dead at the scene.

James' neighbor, James R. Swank, 38, is accused of washing the bloody knife in a sink. He also appeared by video from the county jail Thursday and pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of tampering with evidence.

District Judge Susan Watters set James' bond at $250,000 and Swank's bond at $75,000. She also set a concurrent $75,000 bond on a probation violation filed against Swank. At the time of his arrest, Swank was on probation for a 2003 felony assault conviction in Cascade County.
