Spring into Health Fair coming up
Nearly 20 area health providers and resource organizations will participate in Missoula Public Library's first-ever health fair scheduled for Thursday, April 3, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Attendees can get advice and resources on how to deal with stress, address sleeping issues, monitor for common age-related health problems like diabetes and osteoporosis, and lots more.
The library is offering a variety of health-related programs throughout the week including herbal therapies, tobacco programs, and nutrition information plus more. Visit the library's home page or call 721-2665 for more information.
Would you like some coffee with that?
Something smells tantalizing at Missoula Public Library - fresh coffee, compliments of the library's latest addition, Eddie's Coffee Shop. Take a break from your research to rejuvenate your spirit, or sip a steamy cup while browsing new releases. That's right, as long as it has a lid you can take it anywhere in the building. Eddie's offers more than coffee, with samplings of tea, hot chocolate, pastries, and even choices for the kids. The shop is open Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
We have it: staff reviews
The Believer, edited by Heidi Julavits, Ed Park and Vendela Vida. McSweeny's Publishing. Magazines
There's a new literary magazine in town - or at least at Missoula Public Library. If you are looking for something unique and a little out there, The Believer may be it. The Believer is a serendipitous reading experience that can take you from interviews with a well-known figure like Michael Pollen in one issue to "The Chaos Machine: An Essay on Postmodern Fatherhood" and "The Violet Notebook: Karl Marx, Before He Became Karl Marx, Wrote Sonnets, Ballads, and a Novel About a Constipated Dog" in another. Regular contributor Nick Hornby is also not to be missed in his monthly column, "Stuff I've Been Reading." The Believer is published by McSweeny's, famous for the popular McSweeny's literary journal. The library also recently added another McSweeny's publication to the collection, "Wholphin," a new DVD series of eclectic "unseen films." Both The Believer and "Wholphin" are delightful breaks from the norm and await your reading and viewing pleasure at Missoula Public Library.
