MSU to play K-State on Sept. 6

BOZEMAN (AP) - The Montana State football team has released its 2008 schedule, which includes games against national power Kansas State and Big 10 foe Minnesota.

The Kansas State game, scheduled for Sept. 6, finalized the 2008 schedule for both teams.

MSU athletics director Peter Fields says the Bobcats will receive a $350,000 guarantee for the Kansas State game.

Kansas State posted a 5-7 record last season, losing its last four games. Montana State was 6-5 in 2007.

Eight local martial artists win gold

The Missoula Tae kwon do Center sent 12 athletes to the Northwest Tae kwon do Championships in Billings last weekend.

Kayden Paulson, Abbey Ardiana, Rachel Shipp, Ruth Austin, James Bartholomew, Ryan Watson, Ryan Cagel and Dillon Ardiana each brought home golds in sparring, while Erick Bigsby, Hunter Paulson and Hunter Goodman took silvers. Brannan Nash earned a bronze.

As a team, Missoula Tae kwon do won five golds, two silvers and three bronzes medals in forms.

Ex-Pirate Fouty earns PacWest honor

Polson native Strohm Fouty was named to this week's PacWest Top-10 weekly honor role after the junior left fielder at Grand Canyon University hit .385 with a double and four stolen bases in 10 games last week.

On the season, Fouty is hitting .361, with a team-leading 43 hits and 16 stolen bases. In 32 games in the field, she has a perfect fielding percentage as well as 52 putouts and two assists.
