Armed robber hits bank, flees on bicycle
By MICHAEL MOORE of the Missoulian

Law enforcement is still looking for the man who robbed an East Missoula bank at gunpoint Thursday morning.

First Citizens Bank, which sits on Highway 200, was robbed shortly after 9 a.m., just after opening for the day. No customers were in the bank, which was staffed by three employees.

Missoula County Sheriff's Capt. Greg Hintz said a white man with a dark baseball cap and a blue bandanna over his face came into the bank and showed a pistol to a teller.

“He didn't say anything, just showed them the gun,” said Hintz.

He escaped with an unspecified amount of money, got on a bicycle parked nearby and rode south on Staples Street, which runs alongside the bank.

“No one was injured in this robbery, and that's a good thing,” Hintz said.

The man was wearing tan pants, hiking shoes and a dark, hooded parka with white stripes across the chest that went under the armpits and continued down the sleeves, Hintz said.

The man's ball cap had a red bill, and he also wore sunglasses.

The man was described as between 5 feet 7 inches tall and 6 feet 2 inches tall.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the sheriff's department at 258-4810 or Crimestoppers at 721-4444.
