The Mavericks trailed 9-6 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning in the opener. But Missoula took advantage of a bases-loaded walk, an RBI single by Ben Roberts and a run-scoring throwing error to tie the game, then won on an infield RBI single by Sean Dwyer.
The Mavericks (3-1) used strong pitching by Cody Burgmeier to win the second game, 3-2. He struck out four and issued just one walk in going the distance.
The Mavs will host the Great Falls Electrics on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Lindborg-Cregg Field.

A Mavs and Reps split
At Helena, the Class A Missoula Mavericks began their season with a split in a doubleheader with the Helena Reps.
Brody Miller drove in three runs on a double and a triple to lead Missoula to an 11-4 win in the opener.
Brad Rook was 3-for-3 with a double to lead Helena.
Colter Sternhagen was 3-for-4 in the nightcap to lead Helena to a 7-4 win.
Josh Seeberger went 2-for-3 to pace Missoula at the plate, while C.J. Wulf pitched four scoreless innings of relief.
The Mavs continue their season Sunday with a 1 p.m. game against the Great Falls Electrics at the Westside Little League field.

Red Sox sweep Bucs
At Florence, the Red Sox took both halves of a Class A doubleheader with their rivals, the Bucs.
The all-Bitterroot series ended in 10-4 and 8-5 scores in favor of the Red Sox.
Ryan Weigle went the distance in the opener, striking out 11 batters en route to the win for the Red Sox. Weigle also went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Dom Goble was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for the Bucs.
In the second game, Red Sox pitchers Roady Anderson and Austin Allen combined on a five-hitter. Anderson also had a 3-for-4 day at the plate.
Jeremy Stevens was 2-for-3 for the Bucs (2-2).
