Nonprofit: Grizzly Peak is gathering 'Buddy Bears’

Grizzly Peak Retirement Residence is collecting “Buddy Bears” for the Missoula Police Department. Buddy Bears are used by police to soothe children when intervention in family matters is necessary. Drop off bears at Grizzly Peak, 3600 American Way, through Wednesday, May 14. Call 721-2292.

• The Western Montana Fund Raisers Association will present a free “chat room” from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. Wednesday in Community Medical Center conference rooms I and J titled “From How to Wow: Building a Campaign from the Ground Up.” The presenters will be Barry Fowler, director of human and systems resources at Clark Fork Valley Hospital in Plains, and Tom Wilson of Portland, Ore., vice president and Western regional manager for the consulting firm of Campbell & Co. • Watson Children’s Shelter and Montana Rail Link are sponsoring Bike for Shelter from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Community Medical Center’s parking lot. The event includes 2-mile, 15-mile, 20-mile or 50-mile rides and a bike rodeo for kids. Registration is $10 or $30 for families. • The Missoula Senior Center will host the AARP Driver Safety Class from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The class concludes Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fee is $10; AARP membership is not required. (A special promotion in May allows AARP members to bring a friend to share the $10 fee.) • The Mission View Garden Club will hold its annual Plant Sale and Luncheon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Charlo Senior Center. Call 644-6600.

• “Habitat for Humanity 101” will be held starting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, in the Missoula Public Library’s large meeting room, 301 E. Main St. Volunteers are needed to work at building sites, on special projects, on committees and in the office. Call 549-8210.

• Wines of the West, a fundraiser for Parents Let’s Unite for Kids, or PLUK, will be held from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, May 16, at Montana Harley-Davidson. The event includes wine tasting, food, music and more. Call 239-5100.

• The Doc John ’n’ Judi Memorial Free Spay/Neuter Clinic will be held Thursday, May 15, and Saturday, May 17, at the Ronan Community Center, and Sunday, May 18, and Monday, May 19, at the Tribal Building in Elmo.
