The River Dogs built a 5-0 lead before the Mavs cut the cap to 5-4 with a four-run third. But Columbia River scored 10 times over the final three innings to put the game away.
Brendan Brown with three singles in four trips to the plate. Sean Dwyer and Taylor Nordby added two hits apiece.
“It was a combination of them being a good baseball team that hit the ball extremely well and us having too many breakdowns in areas where you can't have it happen against good clubs,” Missoula manager Brent Hathaway said.
The Mavs (26-9) host Kalispell for a conference doubleheader Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Lindborg-Cregg Field.

At Dillon, Eric Locke doubled, homered and drove in four runs to lead the Mission Valley Mariners to the championship of the Maybelle Arthur tournament.
The Mariners led 5-0 after two innings and cruised to the win.
Brandon Roy went the distance on the mound to pick upthe win.
Kyle Brown homered and drove in three for the Mariners.
Locke was named the tourney's offensive MVP.
