Brewers heat up to take out O's
By the Missoulian

HELENA - Once again the bats were quiet for the Missoula Osprey. The same cannot be said for the Helena Brewers, who exploded for a 10-0 victory over the Birds in a Pioneer League game Friday at Kindrick Legion Field.

Helena, which earned its first win of the young season, slugged nine hits, including a pair of home runs by designated hitter Chris Dennis, who drove in three of the Brewers' runs.

Dennis smashed a solo homer in the fourth and added a two-run shot in the fifth, when Helena scored four times to build a 9-0 lead. Corey Kemp, who went 2-for-4, added a two-run double in the fifth.

John Delaney also collected more than one, going 2-for-3 with a run batted in for the Brewers (1-3). Missoula had just six hits in the game and committed three errors on defense. The Osprey (0-4) failed to score a run for the first time this season, but it wasn't all their misdoings.

Helena starting pitcher Trey Watten tossed six shutout innings to earn his first win. Watten allowed just three hits and struck out four. Brandon Ritchie relieved him and tossed three scoreless innings to get a save.

The Brewers jumped on Osprey starter Miles Reagan, who lasted just two innings in his professional debut. Helena plated three runs in the second. An RBI single by Jose Duran highlighted the inning and a Missoula error aided another run in scoring on the same play.

Reagan, a 17-year-old right-hander, allowed four runs on just two hits. He walked four and struck out three. He was relieved by Jesse Orosco Jr., who was dusted up for six more runs over the next four innings. Orosco struggled in his professional debut Wednesday, a 10-3 loss to Billings in Missoula.

Justin Mace pitched two scoreless innings for the Osprey, who face the Brewers again Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Missoula's Rafael Quezada (0-0) gets the start against Helena's Cody Adams (0-0).

Ryne White, who made his third consecutive start at first base, was 2-for-4 to lead the O's. None of Missoula's hits went for extra bases.
