Crowley did not qualify for Saturday's championship go-round because of a no-time in the first go-round.
Also Friday, UM's Cole Burman placed 15th in steer wrestling with a time of 5.1 seconds, not good enough to get him to the short go-round.
Montana's Dustin Jenkins will go into the short go in second place in bull riding. As of late Friday night he was sitting in fifth place in the third go-round.
Arlee's Jessica Picchietti of Central Wyoming College had a time of 3.4 in breakaway roping in the third go-round, good for 21st place.
Southgate 3-on-3 begins Saturday
The YMCA Southgate 3-on-3 Classic basketball tournament is Saturday and Sunday at Southgate Mall.
A near-record 227 teams have registered for the event, up from 210 last year and just five shy of the record of 232.
More than $25,000 has already been raised to support youth and family programs at the Missoula Family YMCA.
A trainer from the University of Montana will be on hand to assist athletes. Missoula Emergency Services will be on location to treat all injuries.
A cross-section of vendors will be present, including Bitterroot Acupuncture, which has a specialist on staff who treats sports related issues.
Event sponsors will provide fresh fruit, water and Powerade for all participating athletes. Special events include a free-throw contest, to be held at the conclusion of Saturday night's games, and a celebrity game at noon on Saturday between the University of Montana men's basketball coaching staff and their rivals from KPAX TV.
Mission Valley hosts modifieds race
The Northwest modifieds will hit the track this Saturday at the Mission Valley Speedway, located just north of Pablo. It's the first of two opportunities this season for race fans to see the group from Washington, Idaho and Montana compete.
Time trials begin at 5 p.m. with races following at 6 p.m.
Other racing classes at the event include: Mission Valley limited late models, mod 4s and bomber 4s. There will also be a roll over contest.
In all, more than 30 cars are expected to be at the points race for all four classes at this weekend's event.
Livingston's Haug to run for MSU
BOZEMAN (AP) - The track coach at Montana State University-Bozeman said Heather Haug of Livingston plans to run for MSU.
As a Park County High School senior, Haug won the State A titles in the 800-meter, mile and 3,200-meter events. She ran the mile in 5 minutes, 16 seconds.
Haug was the State A cross country champion in 2005.
