Mariners sweep A Mavs

POLSON - The Mission Valley Mariners held the Missoula Mavericks to a pair of runs in each side of a Class A American Legion baseball doubleheader Tuesday afternoon en route to a pair of conference wins.

The M's opened with a 6-2 victory and then followed up with a 10-2 win for the sweep.

John Rausch and Kyle Brown split four of Mission Valley's eight hits in the early game to lead the Mariners at the plate.

Eric Locke held Missoula to just six hits in the opener for the decision from the mound.

Andrew Bewley and Robby King had two hits apiece to pace the Mavericks.

In the late game, Brandon Roy limited Missoula to one earned run off of four hits en route to the win.

Rausch had a solo homer in the fifth and Roy was 2-for-3 to lead Mission.

King was 1-for-4 and scored both runs for the Mavericks, who fell to 1-5 in conference and 19-14 overall.
