Carson fills the position vacated by Ryan Orton, who accepted the top assistant position at New Mexico Highlands.
Huse has replaced all three of his assistants during the offseason.
“I've known Scott for a long time. I've worked with him, and I know he does a tremendous job working with the players. He's a coach who has seen and experienced a lot at this level and I know that will benefit this program.”
Carson was an assistant to former Bobcats coach Mick Durham from 1994-2006. During that time, Montana State won two Big Sky Conference regular season titles and one league tournament championship.
Carson was an assistant (1982-85) and then head coach (1985-89) at Rocky Mountain College.
Orton leaves Montana State after two seasons.
“Ryan has a great opportunity at New Mexico Highlands and I wish him the best,” Huse said.
Huse has also hired Brian Priebe and Temesghen Starr as assistants during the offseason.
