Bank robbery suspect sought
By TRISTAN SCOTT of the Missoulian

A surveillance camera shows the suspect in Thursday's robbery of First Security Bank.
Police were canvassing downtown Missoula on Thursday afternoon in search of a lone bank robber who remained at large after holding up the First Security Bank on East Broadway.

According to Missoula Police Sgt. Scott Hoffman, the suspect passed the bank teller a note claiming he had a loaded gun and demanding money from the till. He then left the building with an undisclosed amount of cash.

No one was injured during the robbery, which occurred at 2:15 p.m. inside the bank's Missoula branch, on the 100 block of East Broadway.

Bank employees last saw the suspect walking east on Broadway. He was wearing royal blue coveralls over a white T-shirt, and white tennis shoes and a tan baseball cap. The bank teller described the suspect as a clean-shaven white man between the ages of 50 and 60. He stands approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall and has a medium build.

Investigators believe the suspect may have worn coveralls so he could remove them immediately after the robbery in an attempt to change his appearance. However, police have obtained surveillance footage from the bank's security cameras that clearly show the man's face.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Missoula Police Department at 523-4777, or the Crimestoppers hot line at 721-4444.
