RAPID CITY, S.D. - The Spokane Northstars' three-game win streak at the Rapid City Firecracker Legion baseball tournament ended abruptly Thursday by the Missoula Mavericks.

The Mavs sprayed 11 hits over the course of seven innings, and Jacob Shilling turned in a complete game from the hill to lift Missoula to a 7-4 win over the Stars.

Shilling struck out four, walked two and didn't allow a single earned run as the

17-year-old hurler improved to 4-4 on the season.

Ben Roberts was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles to go with the pair of runs he drove in for the Mavs.

Brendan Brown and Sean Dwyer both added two hits apiece for Missoula, which improved to 35-15.

The Mavericks continue play Friday at the tournament, which runs through Sunday.

Missoula A Mavs 4

At Bozeman, the Class A Missoula Mavericks allowed just two earned runs Thursday in the opening day of the Bozeman American Legion baseball tournament, but couldn't nail down a win over the Lethbridge Miners.

Missoula, which finished with four errors in the game, scored four runs in the opening two innings before being held scoreless the rest of the way.

Collin LaPorte was 2-for-3 and was the only player for the Mavs to record multiple hits.

Cody Lencucha was 3-for-4 for Lethbridge, while Derek Grubel struck out four en route to the win.
