Rescuers find man injured while hang gliding
Posted on July 12

BUTTE (AP) -Rescuers found a man injured while hang gliding in southwestern Montana and carried him to a helicopter for transport to the Butte hospital.

John Breen, possibly in his late 30s or early 40s, was found Friday evening after his glider crashed in the woods south of Butte, according to Brad Belke of 15-90 Search and Rescue in Butte.

Breen was transferred in good condition to a Missoula hospital, said a supervisor at St. James Healthcare.

A search began after Breen launched his glider from Red Mountain on Friday but did not land in a designated zone. A friend who also glides could not find him.

Breen was found on top of the wrecked glider and had been at the location about four hours, Belke said.
