O's can't shake Ghosts in fifth loss to Casper
By the Missoulian

CASPER, Wyo. - The Missoula Osprey were baffled by the Casper Ghosts again on Wednesday.

Casper, which swept a four-game series in Missoula a week ago, rallied for four runs in the seventh inning and one in the eighth to pull out a 6-4 win at Mike Lansing Field.

The Ghosts snapped a three-game losing streak with their fifth win over the Osprey this season. Casper (17-10) and Missoula (6-22) meet again on Thursday and Friday.

The Osprey, who had won two of their previous three, led 4-1 entering the seventh-inning stretch. The worst team in the Pioneer League couldn't hold the lead to start their seven-game road swing off on a bad note.

James Sims hit a three-run triple to tie the game 4-4 in the seventh inning and teammate Zack Murry added an RBI single to give the Ghosts their first lead of the game, 5-4.

Sims' hit came against 17-year-old righty Miles Reagan, who was making his first relief appearance of the season. Sims went 2-for-4 from the plate, as did Wilin Rosario and Shane Lowe.

Reagan came on in the fifth inning for Bayron Zepeda, who made his first start of the year, after being used primarily as a late-inning reliever. Reagan dropped to 0-4 this season.

Casper tacked on a run on Andrew Goff's sacrifice bunt in the eighth and reliever Adam Jorgenson got out of a bases-loaded jam in the top half of the inning to get the Ghosts back on track.

Jorgenson also pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his second save. Andres Marrero got the win, after pitching one inning of relief. Starter Jeff Fischer went six innings and wasn't roughed up too badly after the first inning.

Missoula jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Isaias Ascencio's two-out RBI double capped the inning. Lowe's RBI triple helped Casper cut the Osprey's lead to 3-1 in the second.

Missoula was held scoreless after the fifth, when Reynaldo Navarro hit an RBI single to plate Alberto Diaz, who went 2-for-5 with two runs scored.

Osprey manager Audo Vicente was ejected from the game in the ninth, when Diaz flied out to Sims in left field to start the frame. Vicente argued that Sims trapped the ball. It was Vicente's first ejection of the season.

Notes: Casper was swept at Helena before its series with Missoula. ... All the PBL teams were back in action after Tuesday's travel day.
