The Phillips County sheriff's office identified the victim as 28-year-old Matthew Holman.
The Montana Highway Patrol says Holman was southbound on U.S. Highway 191 near Malta on Monday afternoon when his International truck went into the ditch. The truck struck an embankment, became airborne, rolled 1.5 times and came to rest on its top. The vehicle then caught fire.
The death was the 123rd on state highways this year, compared to 155 at the same time a year ago.
