Matt Martin, a recent graduate of the University of Montana, has signed a contract to play professional basketball for the Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders of the British Basketball League, the team announced Wednesday.

The four-year basketball letterman for Montana will play in the 12-team English league starting in September. The Riders are located in Leicester, a city of about 400,000, which is a 45-minute train ride northwest of London.

Martin recently finished his career with the Grizzlies ranked 23rd on the team's all-time scoring list with 1,021 points, while his 214 career 3-pointers are the second most at UM and rank him seventh in the Big Sky Conference. He also finished 10th in school history with 317 assists over the course of his 122 career games.

Martin will leave for England Sept. 3.
