The Missoula Court Appointed Special Advocates organization is seeking volunteers to act as guardian ad litem for Missoula children who have been abused and neglected.
CASA of Missoula was founded in 1994 to recruit and train specialized advocates to report to the court about what decisions and outcomes are in the best interest of the child in abuse and neglect cases.
CASA Volunteers undergo rigorous training and background checks, and are assigned to cases by District Court judges. In many cases, the CASA volunteer is the person who has the time to most completely research all factors of a case and needs of the child, so judges typically rely on the CASA’s report when deciding what outcome may be in the best interest of getting the child into a safe home as soon as possible.
CASA of Missoula trains volunteers for their important work in the fall and spring. This fall the training is scheduled for late September.
To contact CASA for more information or request a volunteer packet, call 542-1208 or e-mail casamissoula@gmail.com. You can also log on to www.missoulacasa.org for additional information.
