Livestock killed by wolves in Bitterroot Valley
Posted on Aug. 6

By the Associated Press

MISSOULA - A lamb was killed by a wolf this week in the Bitterroot Valley near Lolo.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks authorized USDA Wildlife Services to kill one wolf if it returns to the area where the sheep are grazing. The grazing leaseholder reported seeing one wolf involved in the incident. The wildlife agency hasn't determined whether it's a lone wolf or a member of the Welcome Creek pack.

In a separate incident July 29, Wildlife Services confirmed that a wolf injured a calf in the Bitterroot Valley south of Stevensville. The calf later had to be put down as result of its injuries.
