The Orem Owlz beat the Osprey 10-5 on Wednesday and in the process handed Missoula its eighth consecutive loss, but even worse was its 0-for-7 trip through Utah.
Orem, which won the first-half title in the South Division, swept the Birds behind a 17-hit attack in the fourth and final contest at Brent Brown Ballpark.
The Osprey (3-13 in the second half, 12-42 overall) take on the same two teams during a seven-game homestand beginning Thursday.
Missoula's eight-game skid is second only to the 10-game losing streak the Osprey had earlier this season, for their worst spell in team history.
Four Orem players went 3-for-5 and combined on six runs batted in, while Ryan Groth hit a solo home run in the fifth to give the Owlz a comfy 8-5 lead.
Orem scored three runs in the third to go up 5-3 and twice more in the fourth inning for a 7-4 lead.
Missoula's Ryne White and Nelson Gomez belted back-to-back home runs in the third to give the O's a 3-2 lead. White tied Isaisas Ascencio for the team lead with his seventh homer.
Gomez, who hit his sixth homer in the very next at-bat, made it the third time in four games that Missoula hit multiple home runs.
Orem used five pitchers to dispatch of the O's. Michael Kohn pitched one inning of scoreless relief to earn his second win of the year.
Missoula starter Taylor Sinclair had his roughest outing of the season, giving up seven runs on 10 hits over 3 1-3 innings.
O's catcher Chris Davis went 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead his team.
Notes: The lowest win total for a full season in the Pioneer League is 12, which Missoula's matched with nine wins in the first half and three thus far in the second half. The O's have 22 games left in their second half schedule. ...Missoula didn't commit an error in the field.
