Wolves killed a calf on private land near Hall this week. Wildlife Services officials confirmed the incident Thursday.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks authorized the lethal removal of three wolves from the area. Wildlife Services killed two wolves Friday, and the control action for one additional wolf is ongoing.

The Willow Creek Pack is believed to be responsible for the recent depredation. A calf was confirmed killed by the same pack in April and a single wolf, possibly a member of the pack, killed a lamb later in the month. Five wolves were removed from the pack in response to the April depredations.

FWP uses an incremental approach to address confirmed livestock depredations and will continue to work with area landowners and grazing allotment permittees to reduce depredation risks and monitor the area for wolves.
