HELENA - Four people were killed in three highway crashes on Saturday, the Montana Highway Patrol said.

A 34-year-old Stevensville woman died around 2 a.m. Saturday after rolling her vehicle into a ditch on Highway 12 near Lolo. Troopers are investigating why she swerved and lost control of her vehicle.

Near Harrison, a 53-year-old Missoula woman died around 3 p.m. Saturday after her motorcycle crashed into the back of another bike. The patrol said the first motorcycle had slowed down very rapidly because a grain truck was in the roadway, waiting for oncoming traffic to clear to turn left. The 51-year-old Missoula man on the other motorcycle was hospitalized in Butte.

Two people were killed and another was critically injured just before midnight Saturday in a one-vehicle crash on Highway 47 north of Hardin. The crash remains under investigation.

The names of the victims were being withheld until family members could be notified.
