I elect not to contribute to RPAC since I have no say as to whose candidacy they will support in Flathead County and state of Montana elections. In fact, they only support Republican candidates, which I am strongly opposed to, and I want to go on the public record of denouncing any claims that RPAC represents my political ideology. I facetiously call this RPAC the “Republican Political Action Committee.”
Among my community service activities as a substitute teacher, a volunteer on growth policy planning and zoning and subdivision regulations committees, an advocate for water quality throughout the Flathead Valley, and my advocacy for wildlife and their habitat preservation in the wildlands-urban interface and in national forests, is my primary avocation of representing buyers and sellers of real estate transactions.
It is possible to represent buyers and sellers of real estate without adversely disturbing the ecosystem in Flathead County and that is the service I offer. I am also a political activist to that end, which causes angst among the rank and file of NMAR.
Nevertheless, I am going to exercise my freedom of speech by formally not supporting NMAR’s RPAC choices, and hereby announcing my support for those political candidates who will protect the environment and attempt to maintain a pristine ecosystem as a priority over commercial business interests, but without adversely affecting property values or impinging upon private property rights. Yes, it can be done. Good water quality is known to increase property values, as does wildlife-viewing vantages and scenic mountain-view sheds.
Please vote for Mark Holston for State Senate District 3; Mick Holm for State House District 3; Edd Blackler for State House District 9; and Steve Qunell for Flathead County Commissioner.
Holston works for the Flathead Basin Commission that monitors water quality in the Flathead Valley and has held similar prestigious positions that are too numerous to list here. Holm recently retired as the superintendent of Glacier National Park and worked above and beyond his duties to be instrumental in re-establishing TV signals in the canyon after the 2003 forest fire disasters. Blackler is a former executive of the Back Country Horsemen serving the needs of the National Forest Service and providing trail access for outdoor enthusiasts. Qunell is very experienced in Whitefish government growth policy planning and is a Harvard University master’s degree graduate.
Needless to say, these men are not Republicans, so they will be great stewards of our lands and preserve them for the future generations of our families to enjoy. True, these men are running as Democrats, but they are running independently, on their own, with little or no help available from what has proven itself over the years to be a very weak, ineffective Flathead Democratic Party central organization. So, give them your support and cast your ballots for them. You will be rewarded with ethical, knowledgeable, well-qualified, caring representatives governing your community.
Please cut out and save this article until voting day.
