Missoula man arrested for alleged casino robbery
By TRISTAN SCOTT of the Missoulian

A Missoula man was arrested Monday for his alleged role in a weekend casino robbery.

James P. Crandall, 34, is accused of robbing the One-Eyed Jack's Casino on South Reserve Street early Sunday morning, according to court papers charging the man with felony robbery.

No one was injured during the robbery, in which a shotgun-toting man walked through the casino's main entrance just after 1 a.m. and told the attendant, “You know what this is,” records state. The robber, who was wearing sunglasses and an orange bandanna over his face, then demanded the attendant's money apron, which was tied around her waist and contained $408.

Security footage shows the robber holding what appears to be a shotgun and motioning to patrons of the casino to get away from the gambling machines. He then paces back and forth while the attendant collects the money he demanded from the machines.

The casino manager saw the suspect leave the area on a silver bicycle. A short time later, police found a bicycle, sunglasses and a shotgun barrel in the vicinity. An orange bandanna, black cap and a black jacket were found near Clark Street, and officers developed a possible identity of the suspect as “James” who lives on South Avenue.

Crandall remains jailed at the Missoula County Detention Facility on $50,000 bail.
