Stout gets life for husband's murder
By the Associated Press

HAMILTON - A Darby woman has been sentenced to life in prison for killing her husband in June 2007.

District Judge Jeffrey Langton sentenced Anne Stout on Friday for the shooting death of Bill Stout at their house west of Darby. He was shot in the back of the head.

Prosecutors say Stout plotted to kill her husband after discovering he'd been having an affair. The couple had been married for 22 years. She was convicted of deliberate homicide in June 2008 after a three-week trial.

Stout and her family pleaded for leniency during Friday's sentencing.

“Your children will be deprived of your company,” Langton said. “It's not because you've been convicted of the crime, it's because you committed the crime.”

Stout's defense attorney argued the conviction was based on circumstantial evidence and said there is no one who can testify that Stout shot her husband.

The gun was found in the saddle bag of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the garage.
