The library has become a community gathering place buzzing with activity, so we started our project with two quiet rooms to ensure a peaceful place for study and research. Next we created an entryway to the children's room reflecting our famous gnome house to welcome children into a world of imagination and exploration. Our teens were then treated to a walled-in space with more computers and seating so they could have a spot of their own to meet friends and relax.
We made room for new display shelving to highlight seasonal and Montana materials, and we collected all our CDs and videos into Entertainment Central providing one-stop browsing. Our innovative Grab 'n Go collection means you can find new release videos and best-selling titles on the shelf. And our reader's advisory corner now offers advice on which book you should pick up next. Then you can sit and relax with it in our new seating area.
Whew! There are a lot of changes at the library, and we're doing it all without any interruption to services. Our collections are on the move as we make room for each change, so if you can't find what you need during our construction, just ask a staff member and we'll be happy to direct you. Stop by and see us transform.
Read a good book lately?
The library works hard to keep up to date with technology and new interests, but nothing can replace a good book. Treat yourself and join one of our book clubs. Our adult book group offers two meetings each month - the second Tuesday at 7 p.m. or the second Thursday at 10 a.m. - so you can match your schedule. Kids ages 10-13 can join the Page Turners on the second Wednesday at 7 p.m. And soon teens ages 14 and up will have a brand new group that will meet on the second Saturday at 3 p.m. If you're already in your own group, try one of our Book Chat Bags filled with multiple copies of a title and a discussion guide. Get more information on our book groups at www.missoulapubliclibrary.org.

“The Sun Also Rises,” by Ernest Hemingway, read by William Hurt. Simon & Schuster Audio, 2006, find it at: BKCD HEMINGW
If you're looking to revisit a classic on your next road trip or daily commute, don't miss Academy Award-winning actor William Hurt's narration of Ernest Hemingway's novel, “The Sun Also Rises.”
Published in 1926, “The Sun Also Rises” follows a group of American and English expatriates on a journey from Paris to Pamplona for the July fiesta and bullfight. These members of the disillusioned Lost Generation include such unforgettable characters as American veteran Jake Barnes, the independent, British Lady Brett Ashley, and the Jewish American author Robert Cohn.
Hurt's voice is the perfect match for Hemingway's crisp prose and his reading of the bullfight scene is absolutely riveting. Let Hurt reacquaint you with “The Sun Also Rises” in this unabridged version of a Hemingway masterpiece.
