NONPROFIT - Meals on Wheels program seeking volunteer drivers
By TANDY KHAMENEH of the Missoulian

The Meals on Wheels program of Missoula Aging Services needs volunteer drivers to help deliver hot, nutritional meals to homebound older adults and people with disabilities.

Winter typically means a need for more drivers, as some regular volunteers take the winter months off due to driving conditions or “snowbird” lifestyles. This seasonal shortage, along with record-breaking numbers of meals delivered in recent months, makes the current need for volunteers urgent.

Drivers deliver meals to Missoula County residents Monday through Friday between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Most routes take less than 90 minutes to drive, and mileage is reimbursed or may be donated for a tax deduction. Drivers may volunteer daily, once a week, twice a month or serve as an on-call substitute.

For more information about becoming a Meals on Wheels driver or substitute, contact Curtis Hammond at Missoula Aging Services, 728-7682.
