Blue Cross argues for Helena airport site

HELENA - Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana has asked to be heard in a lawsuit that seeks to prevent the Helena Regional Airport from leasing 9 acres to the insurance company for a new office building.

Blue Cross has moved to intervene in the request for a restraining order, filed against the airport by Plan Helena and developer Alan Nicholson. Blue Cross claims it has already made a “significant economic investment” in planning to build on the property and will be harmed if the court says the plans can’t go forward.

Nicholson and Plan Helena claim the airport board didn’t follow proper procedure for lease of property, and that the airport’s rules for selling or otherwise disposing of property aren’t valid since they were never signed off on by the city or county commissions.
