When you visit, you’ll want to review the home page as your first stop; we’re constantly updating it with the most recent offerings and upcoming events. “About Us” gives you a peek at how the library started plus useful information like book drop locations and staff contacts.
Our “Catalog” link lets you look up materials, place holds, renew, and review your account.
“Events” features our new-and-improved calendar with something for all ages.
And for the younger crowd, “Youth Services” offers the latest on our children’s programs and book lists, and teens can follow the link to the Young Adult page to catch up on events and more just for them.
Did we mention our blog? The more you explore, the more you’ll find. So if you can’t squeeze a visit to the library into your busy day, put on your slippers and visit the library in the comfort of your own home. We’re at www.missoulapubliclibrary.org. Think ... more!
Library joins World Community
It’s not often a library computer sits unused. But when it does, that time is being put to good use. We recently joined the World Community Grid, a cooperative project dedicating computer “down time” to running computations for research into projects such as discovering cancer treatments, fighting AIDS and determining a formula to help impoverished countries grow rice.
The secure program joins thousands of individual computers to equal a supercomputer, cutting research time from decades to months. Whenever a computer is not in active use, it is assigned a portion of the supercomputer’s computations. For more on the World Community Grid, visit www.worldcommunitygrid.org or ask at the library.
