HELENA - Gov. Brian Schweitzer is going to Ireland, to receive the James Joyce Award from the Literary and Historical Society of University College Dublin.

Schweitzer and his wife, Nancy, plan to leave for Ireland on Saturday. Presentation of the award recognizing him for service as a political leader is scheduled for Wednesday. Past recipients have included philosopher Noam Chomsky, former United Nations weapons inspector Hans Blix, comedian Will Ferrell and author Bill Bryson.

Schweitzer spokeswoman Sarah Elliott says the governor plans to speak on "The World After Oil" when he addresses the Literary and Historical Society.

Irish author James Joyce was in the society.
