Missoula Kmart robbed of jewelry
By TRISTAN SCOTT of the Missoulian

The Kmart store on Brooks Street was burglarized early Friday morning and several pieces of jewlery were stolen, according to police.

The store was closed when someone broke a window and crawled inside. An employee was in the store during the burglary and heard glass breaking, but there was no confrontation, said city police Sgt. Bob Bouchee.

“Whoever did it broke the window, came in, took some jewelry and then left,” said Bouchee.

Although police do not yet have a description of the suspect, Bouchee said investigators are waiting on surveillance footage that likely captured the burglary on video.

A manager of the store, located at 3626 Brooks, said business remained good despite the break-in, and shoppers turned out in droves for Black Friday.

Anyone with information about the break-in and theft should either call 9-1-1 or Crimestoppers at 721-4444. Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward.
