The Big Sky High School Sky Blues chorale traded songs with their adult colleagues in Dolce Canto at the University of Montana's recital hall. The rest of the city is too late to catch that performance, but there's plenty more coming from Missoula County Public Schools musicians in the two weeks before Christmas.
While the youngest performers limit their holiday specials to elementary school classrooms, MCPS' middle-school and high-school music groups all appear in venues large enough to hold unaffiliated concertgoers. MCPS fine arts supervisor Paul Ritter said many will appear on UM stages.
There's also no admission charge for student performances, making them a perfect cheap date or holiday-shopping pick-me-up. Below are the larger concerts remaining for December. For a complete list of all elementary-grade performances, check the MCPS Web page, www.mcps.k12.mt.us.
