Point guard Jacques Streeter added 23 points as the Titans (6-6) avenged a 74-60 loss at Montana State on Dec. 9.
Akognon, the nation's third-leading scorer coming in at 25.5 points per game, hit only 2 of 7 shots in the first half and was burdened with three fouls. After missing his first shot of the second half, he hit a pair of 3-pointers 50 seconds apart to put Fullerton ahead for good at 41-35.
Erik Rush led Montana State (5-5) with 20 points, and Divaldo Mbunga added 15 points and 10 rebounds.

At Cheney, Wash., Brandon Moore scored 22 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and hit four key foul shots down the stretch to lift Eastern Washington past Evergreen State College in a nonconference game.
Trailing 89-87 in the closing seconds, the Geoducks (7-3) - led by 36 points from Nathan Menefee - had a chance to tie, but John Levi's driving layup rolled off the rim, helping the Eagles (7-5) snap a three-game losing streak.
Benny Valentine added 16 points for Eastern Washington in a game that featured 27 lead changes and 12 ties. Mark Dunn had 13 points and Milan Stanojevic 11.
Menefee, averaging 23.3 points per game, hit 12-of-16 from the floor for 28 points in the first half. But EWU held the 5-foot-11 junior guard scoreless in the final 12 minutes.
Nick Moore had 19 points and Steve Trotter 17 for the Geoducks.

At Las Vegas, freshman guard Seth Curry had 25 of his career-high 30 points in the second half to rally Liberty over Northern Colorado in the third round of the Las Vegas Classic.
Curry, the younger brother of Davidson's Stephen Curry, finished 12-of-21 from field after missing 6-of 8-shots in the first half. He was 4-of-8 from 3-point range for the Flames (8-4), who ended the game on a 9-0 run.
Anthony Smith of Liberty added 23 points, including the go-ahead layup with 1:05 left that made it 71-70. Kyle Ohman had 11 points for the Flames, who twice trailed by 12 points in the first half.
Devon Beitzel led Northern Colorado (3-8) with 21 points, while Mike Proctor had 10 points and eight rebounds for the Bears, who went scoreless over the final 2:20.
Liberty was 19-of-24 from the free throw line, while Northern Colorado was 7-of-9.

At Fargo, N.D., Ben Woodside became North Dakota State's career scoring leader and the Bison pulled away in the second half to beat Northern Arizona.
Woodside scored 24 points and had 10 assists for the Bison (7-4), who led 43-42 at halftime but outscored NAU 47-26 in the second half to pull away. He was 10-for-12 from the free throw line.
Woodside has 1,820 points, breaking Denver TenBroek's old record of 1,813.
NDSU shot 69 percent in the second half and 66 percent overall.
Michael Tveidt had 23 points and Brett Winkleman 19 for the Bison.
Josh Lepley led NAU (3-8) in scoring with 12 points. Matt Johnson had 11 and Zarko Comagic and Cameron Jones 10 each.

At Biloxi, Miss., Steve Panos scored 13 points and Weber State held off Texas-Pan American.
The Wildcats (6-5) jumped out to a 16-3 lead in the opening game of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Classic, but the Broncs (4-8) trimmed the lead to 29-20 by halftime.
Texas-Pan American tied the score at 31 with 16:38 left on a Nick Weiermiller 3-pointer. Weber State regained the lead and maintained a cushion of at least five points.
Texas-Pan American made only 17 of 60 field goals (28.3 percent) while Weber State was 20 of 39 from the field (51.3 percent).
Panos made 4-of-5 field goals and was 5-of-6 from the free-throw line in only 18 minutes of playing time. Nick Hansen and Daviin Davis added 11 points apiece for the Wildcats.
Weiermiller paced the Broncs with 18 points and Emmanuel Jones added 15 points and 11 rebounds.
