GIRLS' BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Davey leads Polson to victory over Ronan

POLSON - Nicole Davey had an excellent game for Polson, scoring 10 points and pulling down eight rebounds to lead the Pirates to a 47-38 Northwestern A girls' basketball victory over Ronan.

Polson improved to 2-0 in conference, 3-3 overall.

Breanne Kelley got the Pirates going, scoring seven of her nine points in the first quarter.

Kaylee Larson scored a game-high 12 points to pace Ronan. The Maidens fell to 0-1, 0-5.

At Kalispell, Roxy Thurman had a big night and a fourth-quarter rally led Northwestern A Bigfork past the Western AA Wolfpack.

Thurman drained seven buckets from the floor to score a team-leading 17 points. The Vals (3-2) also received 11 points from Kailey Fierro.

Glacier entered the fourth quarter with a six-point lead, but was outscored by Bigfork 19-11 over the final eight minutes.

Lindsea Vaudt scored 14 points to lead Glacier, which slipped to 3-3.

At Frenchtown, Anaconda's Torry Hill scored 27 points, including several game-sealing free throws down the stretch as the Copperheads scored the Southwestern A victory.

Hill went 9-for-11 at the line in the fourth quarter as Anaconda (3-0 in league play, 5-0 overall) pulled away from a 34-34 tie. Hill was 12-for-14 on free throws for the game, offsetting a big night from Frenchtown's 6-foot-1 pivot, Laura Geis.

Geis scored 22 points to go with seven rebounds and seven blocked shots. She was 8-for-12 from the field and 6-for-6 from the line for the Broncs (1-2, 2-2).

At Libby, the Wildkats picked up the Northwestern A victory behind a trio of scorers in double figures.

Kelsey DeWit pumped in 14 points for Columbia Falls, which improved to 1-0, 2-4. Alyssa Ladenburg and McKenzie Reeve added 11 points apiece for the Wildkats.

Jackie Mee's game-high 16 points paced the Loggers, who slipped to 1-1, 3-3.

At Florence, the Southwestern A Broncs grabbed a big early lead and cruised past District 6-B Florence.

Misha Trotter drained four of Hamilton's eight 3-pointers to finish with a game-high 21 points. Annie Schultz connected twice from beyond the arc and closed with 18 points as the Broncs improved to 6-0.

Hamilton raced to a 17-0 lead and totaled five treys in the first half.

Katie Niemeir scored 12 to lead the Falcons (3-4).

At Dillon, Kelsi Nordahl led all scorers with 11 points and the host Beavers held down Corvallis for the Southwestern A victory.

Coral Higuera's six points led Corvallis, which didn't score in the first quarter and fell to 0-2 in the Southwestern A, 2-4 overall. Dillon improved to 1-1 and 4-2.

At St. Ignatius, the Bulldogs ran away in the second and third quarters and rolled to the District 7-B win.

Mattea Grant paced St. Ignatius with 17 points and the Bulldogs extended a five-point lead at the end of the first quarter to a 13-point advantage at halftime. Kyla Mitchell and Jonna Grant scored four points apiece in the second stanza, when St. Ignatius (1-1, 4-3) outscored Troy 12-4 despite missing all eight of its free throws in the period.

The Trojans (1-2, 4-3) received 11 points from Molly Harpole.

At Eureka, Kate Klundt's big night and a strong fourth quarter paced the Northwestern A Bulldogs to victory over District 7-B Eureka.

Klundt scored a game-high 26 points and Whitefish pulled away with a late 18-8 run. Olivia Nagler added 12 points for the Bulldogs, who improved to 2-5.

Steph Vogelman's eight points topped the Lions (2-4).

At Hot Springs, the Savage Heat outscored Alberton 20-7 in the third quarter to break open a tight nonconference game.

Randi Arnold and Mackenzie Wood combined for 11 of Hot Springs' 20 points in the third quarter, when the Savage Heat switched to a man-to-man defense that caused Alberton problems.

Jordon Fisher and Wood scored 16 points apiece to lead Hot Springs (5-0). Arnold added 11.

Jordan Marvin scored 14 points to lead Alberton (4-3).

At Charlo, the Vikings blew past Superior for the District 14-C win.

Stephanie Murphy scored eight of her game-high 16 points in the third quarter for Charlo, which extended its 11-point halftime lead to 27 by outscoring the Bobcats 19-3 in the third stanza. She added a team-high six rebounds.

Jaris Kelley dropped in 10 points to go with five assists for the Vikings (2-1, 4-1) and Stephanie Maughan added nine points and six assists.

Kaila Smith's four points led Superior (1-1, 2-4).

Hogue sank four 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 22 points. Melanie Graham scored 10 of her 18 points in the second quarter for Philipsburg (3-1, 5-2). Shanna Johnson added 10 points for the Prospectors.

Philipsburg raced to a 16-point lead by halftime and cruised the rest of the way.

Annah Gardner's seven points led the Lynx (0-3, 0-6).

At St. Regis, Two Eagle River snagged its first win of the season, upending District 14-C rival St. Regis.

The Eagles, now 1-1, 1-6, were led by Jaylen Carpentier's 21 points. Adele Frost added 15, followed by Tera Moore with 13, including 11 in the first quarter.

Tyler Cheesman tallied 16 points to lead St. Regis, which fell to 0-3, 1-6. Leandra Baldwin added 14.

Chandler Wilkinson led the Red Devils with 17 points, followed by Rachael Stettler with 15. Stettler provided the scoring punch for Noxon in the third quarter with 11 points.

Stephanie Larkin added 14 points for the Red Devils (2-3)

Elizabeth Taylor poured in 17 to lead Victor, which fell to 1-3, 1-6.
