I'm inviting Florida's Congressman Alan Grayson to move to Montana to run against Sen. Max Baucus in the next election.
Grayson gave a speech in Congress that defines the essence of the health care reform issue. Grayson said America cares. We care that more than 1 million Americans go broke trying to pay for health care; 122 Americans die every day, almost 45,000 Americans die yearly because they cannot afford health insurance, 15 times more lost lives than from 9/11. Grayson, not Baucus, knows that all Americans deserve good health care, which is linked to good economic health.
Baucus says he works for Montanans. He sent his staff to listening sessions on health reform, then ignored what we said. Montanans want Medicare for all or at the very least a public option so Americans stop going bankrupt and dying because America lacks a real health plan.
Grayson stands up for America; his bottom line is America's health, not health insurance profits. Of course, Grayson did not receive $4 million - yes, $4 million - from the health industry like Baucus, who is actively ignoring Montanans and America's wishes. Baucus is not even listening to our democratically elected president, who promised he would support a public option during his campaign. Baucus even told us he doesn't know any doctors who want single payer. Physicians for a National Health Program (www.pnhp.org) has 15,000 members who are convinced that this is the best way to protect Americans health, and save lives.
Max Baucus, we elected you to serve us; we deserve good health care as much as you do. Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., said, "Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane." That's why I'm asking Grayson to please move to Montana.
