Welcome to December, western Montana!

We could see a bit of that long-awaited snowfall today, with snow showers possible before 11 a.m.

The National Weather Service in Missoula says the day will begin with mostly cloudy conditions, then gradually become sunny. Chance of precipitation in Missoula is 70 percent.

If it does snow, though, the valley accumulation will likely be less than an inch. High temperature today should be about 37 degrees.

The Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for central, south-central and southeastern Montana.

A cold front will move through that region this morning, bringing areas of snow, windy conditions and much colder temperatures.

Snow accumulations of 1-4 inches are possible on the central and western plains, with 4 inches possible in the mountains.

Travelers should be on the lookout for blowing snow and limited visibility in some areas.

Overnight temperatures could drop into the single digits or teens.

Keep watching Missoulian.com for updates throughout the day, including weather videos, Weather Service alerts and extended forecasts.
