HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Warning issued along Rocky Mountain Front and SW Montana

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the Rocky Mountain Front and a large swatch of north-central and southwestern Montana.

Light snow is expected over the mountains on Friday night, with accumulations of one or two inches. West winds could create limited visibility on some mountain passes.

Snow and winds also are expected to impact travel over mountain passes on Saturday.

Numerous warnings of hazardous weather conditions also are in effect for the mountains of northern and north-central Idaho.

In Missoula, the Weather Service says there is a slight chance of rain before 11 p.m., then rain and snow. Low temperatures tonight should be in the mid-20s, with west-southwest winds between 5 and 11 miles per hour, and gusts as high as 20 mph. The chance of overnight precipitation is 90 percent.

Here is the Weather Service's forecast for Saturday in Missoula:

Saturday: A 50 percent chance of snow showers, mainly before 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. West northwest wind between 14 and 18 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Saturday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow after 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. West southwest wind between 5 and 13 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
